Demolition Estimator
We are seeking an experienced Demolition Estimator to join our client's team in Brooklyn, NY. This is a hands-on estimating role for a professional with a proven background in commercial demolition, interior/selective demolition, structural demolition, or heavy civil demolition.
The ideal candidate understands how demolition projects are actually performed and can translate drawings, site conditions, demolition scope, labor, equipment, trucking, disposal, subcontractor pricing, and project logistics into accurate and competitive bids.
This is a demolition-specific estimating position. Candidates whose estimating experience is primarily in flooring, drywall, windows/doors, painting, roofing, or other individual construction trades will not be a fit unless they also have substantial demolition estimating experience.
Key Responsibilities
Review architectural, structural, MEP, and demolition drawings to identify and quantify demolition scope.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for commercial and interior demolition projects.
Prepare accurate estimates covering labor, equipment, trucking, hauling, disposal, subcontractors, materials, and other project costs.
Evaluate existing site conditions through drawings, specifications, site visits, and pre-bid meetings.
Develop competitive bids and detailed proposals from initial plans through final submission.
Identify project-specific demolition requirements, including sequencing, access, phasing, temporary protection, equipment needs, and site logistics.
Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, trucking companies, disposal facilities, and equipment suppliers.
Review bid documents, specifications, addenda, RFIs, and scope revisions and incorporate changes into estimates.
Work closely with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to clarify scope and pricing.
Participate in pre-bid site walks and meetings and incorporate field conditions into estimates.
Maintain organized bid documentation, estimate revisions, and supporting cost information.
Assist with negotiations and scope clarification following bid submission.
Track market pricing, labor costs, equipment rates, disposal costs, and other factors affecting demolition estimates.
Use estimating software and spreadsheets to develop, analyze, and present project pricing.
